About Independent Rehabilitation Services

Our beginnings

Independent Rehabilitation Services is a community-based allied health provider, founded in 1999 by Physiotherapist, Kate Phillips. Kate had a vision to support people with neurological conditions in their homes and communities. And she created Independent Rehabilitation Services with a collaborative, evidence-based and person-centred approach at the heart of how we work.

25 years down the road, we are now a team of 55+ clinicians, consisting of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech Pathologists all with a special interest and expertise in neurological rehabilitation and disability.

Our philosophy

Built upon the Human Rights model of healthcare, we believe each individual has the right to independence, participation in the community and agency over their decision making.

We are committed to maximising independence, participation and integration into the community.

Our relationships

We have established working relationships with many compensable bodies, such as TAC, NDIS, WorkSafe Victoria and Chronic Disease Management (CDM).

We’re proud to say we have been working with TAC since our beginnings in 1999 and NDIS since its launch in Victoria in 2016.
