Senior Occupational Therapist
Hello there! After completing my studies in Occupational Therapy at Deakin University in Geelong, I moved to Sydney, and then to the UK for a few years. Along the way I gained some great experience working in hospitals in acute and subacute in general medical, oncology, aged care, neurological and stroke rehabilitation. I’ve also worked in the community in vocational and neurological rehabilitation.
It was whilst working on the stroke and neurological hospital wards that I developed my passion for empowering clients to achieve their goals despite the complex challenges that neurological conditions can present. I believe strongly in a holistic approach to therapy, and I understand the importance of creative problem solving when collaborating with my clients. I love the work that I do now in the community as I help my clients overcome challenges and live happier, more fulfilling lives.
I also recently completed my Diploma in Professional Writing and I hope to use my freshly honed writing skills to help people connect and communicate effectively.
When I’m not at work I love catching up with friends, reading a thrilling novel, and planning home renovations!
Shimila will celebrate 4 years with IRS in 2022.
